Girls on the Run of the Triangle
"Coaches Corner"
Your resource for Best Coaching Practices...and more! |
Girls on the Run volunteer coaches are at the core of the Girls on the Run program. Without the 70+ coaches each season dedicating a significant amount of time and energy preparing and delivering the program, GOTR would not be where it is today. Female, community-minded, role-models like yourself direct a powerful curriculum that educates and prepares girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Thank you for all of your hard work and passion for the Girls on the Run program!
Welcome to the GOTR Coaches Corner! This space will continue to grow over time and will become a tool that will give you information to better your knowledge about the Girls on the Run program and provide you with programming tips to help in developing yourself as a confident, comfortable and inspiring Girls on the Run Coach! Should you have suggestions of helpful materials or needs, please contact the GOTR Program Manager.

Q&A with Coach Corrie (Root Elementary):

What was your favorite part about coaching this season?
"My favorite part about being a Girls on the Run coach is seeing the pride/accomplishment the girls achieve throughout the time we spend together, especially at the WonderGirl 5K. Seeing them cross the finish line was priceless"
Are there any inspiring stories that you would like to share?
At the final party this year one of the mom's approached me with a folded note in her hand. She whispered in my ear, "I thought you would like to see this, I've never heard such amazing things said about someone and I would have wanted to know about it. Her daughter wrote a character sketch for her third grade class assignment about you."
The note she handed to me was a full handwritten page. It outlined the character qualities her daughter had seen in me - commitment to come and run, positive attitude, encouraging words, making good choices, and even bringing snack. She had listed so many things that were part of our lessons. I wish I could summarize it more eloquently, but in short, I have never received such an amazing present - it was unbelievable to see through this girl's eyes what a Girls on the Run Coach is to her. I was so thankful for the privilege to be someone of character in her life.
Truly Inspiring...thank you for sharing!
